botanical gardens | pavilion competition

2nd Place

This primary focus of this competition was on the materials and assemblies of a structure. A simple pavilion providing a restroom and sales counter was proposed for the main path through Clemson University's Botanical Gardens.

My design concept is a gateway in which the two major program elements are placed at opposite base-points of an arch. The main structural framework is light timber with a concrete foundation. Choosing brick for its visual aesthetic, I designed a serpentine wall to define the restroom and provide built-in display shelves for botanicals.
